Privacy Policy

Decimal Life reads from the systems you already live in so that Deci can answer questions about your own life. That only works if you trust what happens to the data. The short version: we collect what you connect and what you create, we use it to run the product for you, we do not sell it, and you can export or delete it yourself at any time from the Trust Center.
1. Who we are
Decimal Life (“we”, “us”) operates the website at decimallife.com and the Decimal Life mobile and web applications. For anything in this policy, including access, correction and deletion requests, contact privacy@decimallife.com.
2. What we collect
Account information
Authentication is handled by Clerk. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture and Google account identifier. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Content you create
Tasks, goals, habits, plans, notes, focus sessions, journal and review entries, and the messages you send to Deci.
Data from services you connect
Nothing is connected by default. Each source is linked only after you complete its authorisation flow, and you can disconnect any of them at any time. Depending on what you choose to connect, this may include:
- Google Calendar — event times, titles and attendee counts, read-only.
- Gmail — message metadata and content needed to surface threads that need a reply, and label changes when you act on a thread from within Decimal Life.
- Google Health — the health and activity categories you approve.
- Apple Health — read on your device under the permissions iOS asks you to grant.
- GitHub and Linear — issues, pull requests and activity relevant to your work context.
Data we derive
The Context Engine builds a Life Knowledge Graph from the above: entities, the relationships between them, summaries, and numeric embeddings used to retrieve relevant context when you ask Deci something. Derived data is treated exactly like the source data it came from, including on deletion.
Technical and diagnostic data
An audit log of security-relevant actions on your account, and error reports sent to Sentry. Error reporting is configured not to attach personal information, and event payloads are filtered before they are sent.
Waitlist
If you request an invite before launch we store only the email address you submit, and only until invitations for that wave have gone out. Requesting an invite does not create an account.
3. Why we use it
To operate your account, to build and maintain your Context Engine, to let Deci answer with context rather than guesswork, to keep the service secure and to diagnose faults. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with data brokers.
4. AI processing
Deci’s replies are generated by a large language model. To produce an answer, the relevant portion of your context and your message are sent to a third-party inference provider over an API. The provider in use is shown in the app’s diagnostics and is currently Groq.
We use inference providers on terms that do not permit training on the data we submit. Your content is sent to generate your answer and for no other purpose. We do not use your content to train models of our own.
5. Google user data and Limited Use
Decimal Life’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, data obtained through Google APIs is:
- used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the Decimal Life interface;
- never transferred to others except as necessary to provide those features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with your consent;
- never used for advertising of any kind;
- never used to develop, improve or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models;
- never read by a human, except with your explicit consent for a specific message, where required for security purposes such as investigating abuse, to comply with applicable law, or where the data has been aggregated and de-identified.
6. Who processes your data
- Clerk — authentication and identity.
- Amazon Web Services — application hosting, database and cache, in the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region.
- Groq — language model inference for Deci.
- Sentry — error monitoring.
- Google, Apple, GitHub and Linear — only for the sources you connect, and only in the direction of reading data into Decimal Life.
7. Where it is stored
Your data is stored in Amazon Web Services’ Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region. Processing by the providers listed above may take place elsewhere.
8. Your controls
The Trust Center inside the app is the primary control surface, not an email request queue:
- Export — download a machine-readable file of your data.
- Delete by domain — remove everything held for a single area, such as finance or health, without closing your account.
- Disconnect a source — stop further collection at any time.
- Close your account — email privacy@decimallife.com and we will delete your account and its data.
Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, port, restrict or object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. The controls above are how we honour the first four; for anything else, write to us.
9. Retention
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete a domain or close your account, the data and everything derived from it are removed from our live systems. Encrypted backups persist for up to 7 days and are then overwritten on their normal cycle. Audit log entries are retained where we are required to keep a record of security-relevant events.
10. Security
Traffic is served over TLS. Credentials and connector tokens are held in AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store rather than in the application. Access to production is restricted and audited. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you without undue delay if a breach affects your data.
11. Children
Decimal Life is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes
We will update this page when the product changes and revise the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
